welcome to our bon jovi project page!
what is the bon jovi project?
The excitement and energy surrounding Bon Jovi in our classroom is undeniable and highly contagious. Learning experiences that are based on real life situations, especially those that the students are highly interested in and excited about are the most motivating and engaging. So why not create a writing project around a topic the class is very enthusiastic about? Our class is currently working on writing persuasive letters to the real Jon Bon Jovi in an attempt to convince him to come to Lethbridge to visit our classroom. Not only that, we also plan to write letters to Ellen DeGeneres, in hopes that she is moved by our motivation and Bon Jovi super fan status, and is able to help us get in touch with Jon Bon Jovi. In order to make this an authentic and effective learning experience in writing persuasive letters, it is my plan to mail our package of letters to Bon Jovi, C/O various locations he is directly connected to, such as Soul Kitchen, his restaurant in New Jersey, and The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.
Why Bon jovi?
I have been a Bon Jovi fan since I was a teenager in the 80s, and to this day I am still a devoted super fan. If you have been in our classroom you will have seen our classroom helper, our Jon Bon Jovi cardboard cut-out. He serves as our class mascot, a common bond shared by everyone in the class. We start our mornings with Bon Jovi songs and we end the week with Bon Jovi Fridays. When we work on assignments “Bon Jovi” always does his own and we use them as examples of what our work should look like. Even on special school days and celebrations, our cardboard Bon Jovi is committed to being part of the action, and he inspires the rest of the class to be part of the fun. Our Bon Jovi even goes to assemblies with us! Can you imagine the excitement last week when Bon Jovi turned 55? No one was surprised to see a birthday cake with his name on it. In fact, they were all glad that we took the time to celebrate our favourite rock star! We are undeniably the biggest class of Bon Jovi super fans in the world, and we want to let him know how much we love him and his music!
