a message from sra. rebolone morrison: week of sept. 24th, 2017
Welcome to the last week of September! Just a quick message this week.
I hope you've all had a chance to try out our Spanish vocabulary cards with your children. The children were very excited to try out the picture cards with you, and to test your ability to say the words correctly! We will be moving on to lesson 2 of that program later this week, and I will again send you the cards and picture sentences to practice with your child.
In Math this week we begin with a quick "Show What You Know About Patterns" assessment and move on to working on our Number Concepts Unit. The unit begins with counting to 20, which offers a great review of counting in Spanish, something we have been doing every morning. As we move into this unit I will begin introducing more Spanish vocabulary and infuse as much of it as possible into our daily Math lessons. In Language Arts we continue working with letter sounds and words in English, and begin work in Ready-Set-Write (Writing). We continue reviewing our colour words this week and move on to using these in full sentences. Our focus will be on answering questions orally in reference to colours we are wearing: "Who has the colour --- (ie. red)?" and having the children answer, "I have red." (¿Quién tiene rojo? You tengo rojo). We will also continue to review colour words as we work on our Creating Colour unit in Science.
Finally, my apologies for taking so long to make my phone calls home. With a 2 year old and an 11 year old who dances 3 times a week things are quite hectic in our house hold. Still, it is my intention to get in touch with everyone in our class at some point, though it may take me a bit longer than anticipated.
Have a wonderful week!
